Default fsx 6 x lcd monitors - Prototype (hybrid) cockpit with ORBX Scenery/various hardware

    Hi,

Thought ppl might be interested in me video of my setup. I aim to get some plastic panelling with holes cut where the gauges are located on the screens, to make it look more like a real cockpit - but that is a to do.

It starts with landing at Avalon Airport in Victoria, Australia, then a takeoff from Concrete, Washington (U.S.A) and head towards Darrington Municipal.

I have purchased quite a lot of ORBX scenery, as you will see.

For more information, please see the comments in the youtube comments section.

    All the best,

    James

Nice job James. Similar to what I am putting together. For your 6-pack what gauges are you using? What is the specs of that small? Touchscreen? Connections?

Did you go the Eyefinity, Surround or Matrox route? And of course got to ask how are FPS and what are your scenery settings?

    thx,

    Clutch

    Hi Clutch,

Thanks for that. I'm using fsxpand from http://www.cockpitsolutions.com/ for the gauges. Has worked really well with one "server" and one client, but I'm currently having an issue with two clients - one stops working. It maybe something simple, as I've only just implemented it. The aim is to put the cutout plastic over the top of these monitors so that the gauges look more realistic. I purchased the vrinsight gps which took ages - read almost a year - off and on - to get working. In the end I put a separate graphics card (a cheapie) in my PC, just to drive this screen, and fsx MUST be in windowed mode.
I broke the gps when drilling holes into the back plate for mounting, and had to purchase a similar lcd panel and circuit board from China on ebay - couldn't get support from vrinsight.
So, I use the NVidia built in surround support which presents the three 55" TVs as one display all connected with hdmi, and then a separate analogue display for the GPS using a vga cable.
BTW, I have a Matrox TripleHeadToGo, but it won't work with TVs! This is the official response I got from Matrox:
The main issue regarding your configuration is that we don’t support HDMI connections with our units. The way that our TripleHead2Go units work is by using VESA standard timings which may not be compatible with HDMI equipment, which typically uses NTSC.
I'm very happy with the frame rate - I will have to logon on my other computer to provide the settings. I might do a seperate post for this issue just so no one else gets caught with this.

    All the best,

    James
