Thread: Photoreal textures for aircraft repaints

Question Photoreal textures for aircraft repaints

    Hi

I am looking into using pictures for aircraft textures instead of hand painting in Paint.
Is this possible or even sensible?
Also, can you change the resolution of the aircraft textures somehow?
    Thanks

I use parts of photos on some of my paints. I take the windows sometimes, and other times I also use large livery elements like stripes and cheatlines. The rest I cut out, as it can make it blurry. I manually paint the base paint colour and add the livery over the top, patching out doors and windows on the section as I go. I try to match the colours as best as I can with that, otherwise it can be noticed.

Photorealstic textures are particularly useful when painting Bare Metal. Find a decent side on photo, paste it on to the paint kit and use the smudge and clone stamp tool.

    Thanks, that will help.
I dont have photoshop at the moment (pain.net works for now) but I'm sure that I can still make my plane look decent.

Hey, if you want a decent bit of painting software for free then try GIMP! It's very similar to Photoshop and has pretty much all the same features. I use it, and it's never let me down.
