Thread: Future

  1. Default Future

    I read somewhere that MS is terminating Flight. Since they stopped support for FSX for Flight, what are you all planning to do going forward? Eventually, FSX will no longer work on new operating systems and we will be stuck. I am a casual user and not heavily into the mechanics of flight.

    No worries. FSX will be around for several years to come! There is also Prepar3d, X-Plane 10, etc.

    Well seeing as I just built my PC, I'll be on FSX for years to come! Thousands still use it and continue to create awesome products for it, so it still has a decent lifespan!

    This week I have moved from Fsx to Prepar3d which is basically Fsx but with updates and support.

    In fact Prepar3d gets a major update today that should improve performance.

    I find Prepar3d looks like Fsx in most ways but the scenery is better looking and runs smoother....... and most of the addons you bought for fsx will work for Prepar3d.

    I originalyy did not have interest in Prep as it was too costly but people can now try it as a developer for 10 dollars a month and if they like it then buy the academic version for 50 dollars where updates are free.

    When yo feel you need to move from Fsx which was last updated 4 years ago then I recommend Prepar3d which is getting another big update today.

    rjord;

    When they update, would you post your experience along with your computer specs? I fly very smooth in FSX but had a total slide show in Prepar3d. Perhaps you would make a special post on the update? I would be interested and am expecting great things from the Ace team under Lockheed's support. I am eager for feedback on it. My apologies to Wayned10 for hitch hiking on his post.

    I switched over to P3D from FSX. My thoughts are P3D is more stable, runs smoother, and has most important of all, product support. many of the big guys are now supporting it like Carenado, ORBX, REX, and FSUIPC. There are are a lot of guys who will say it's just FSX but it ain't. It is FSX "fixed". many of the bugs in FSX like the need to do the UIAUTOMATIONCORE.DLL, HIMEMFIX, etc are over. Few CDT's and if you have a few, post to the P3D fourm of LM and they will get a solution for you. Lets see how your questions are handled by MS for FSX? I got sick of FSX CTD's and cut and run to P3D. NO REGRETS.

    Prepar3D to me is FSX FIXED

  9. Default FSX to Prepar3D

    I just purchased the academic version of Prepar3d. Have not installed yet. I'm planning to install on a second computer since I have a lot of software and hardware invested on my main FSX sim. do you know of any issues running 6 monitors on prepar3D? FSX won't let me start the program with more than 4 monitors logically connected. I usually have to disconected, bring FSX up then connect the monitors. I'm hoping that Prepar3D can handle this.
