Thread: 2D view keys

  1. Default 2D view keys

I keep hitting the wrong key and screwing up my 2D views. Everything is running fine in 2D. For years when I went to a side view, all I had to do is depress the number key for that view and as long as I held the key down the view would stay there. When I released the key the the front view would automatically come back. I never had to use the shift key + the number. This time when I was trying to move the 9 view key for example, it was now the throttle increase and 3 is now the throttle decrease?

I went into the assignments deleted the throttle keys for 9 and 3 and Changed the view keys from shift to straight numeric. That works ,but I still have to depress the 8 key to get the forward view. I even went back to the default keys and reloaded all the assignments, but no go.

I have a duplicate main FS9 file in case I ever needed it. If I reload that file would it help?

    Regards

Reset the keys to default and turn on NumLock for your views.

As an aside to this topic, if you get hold of the Flusifix tweaker (freeware and the best imo tweaker for fs2004).
One of its very useful modifications is one that alters the 2d default views (NUM LOCK NUMERIC KEYPAD) so that when you select your view you don't have to hold the key down to manually to retain it ,select it and it stays with your view of choice till you hit another key (the 8 key takes you back to your default forward view. There is no manual CFG editing required Flusifix will do it for you at the press of a key.
Very nice too. As is Flusifix

I have nothing against Flusifix and know there are those that swear by it. I have never used it.

I don't see the need to have another program that simply modifies default sim behavior.

If you want to lock your view, you can by default.

With NumLock on, pressing 4 on the Num Pad will present the left view.

While holding down the 4, press and hold the Ctrl key.

While still holding the Ctrl key release the 4, then release the Ctrl key and your left view will be locked until you press another key on the Num Pad (with NumLock on).

This might read as a clunky procedure, but it quickly becomes easy to perform and you don't lose the snap view feature that you will lose with the Flusifix tweak.

    Again, nothing against Flusifix.

Not sure what 'snap view' is.
I much prefer the Flusifix way of doing things.
But if you should want to return to default method as you describe then its easily done.

Snap view is the default action of, with Num Lock on, seeing the left view while holding down the 4 key and having it snap back to the front view when you release the key.
