  1. Default New to the forums..

Ive owned almost every msfs since 95. Havent played one since the release of MSFS2004. I got Flight Sim X as a gift but was not able to play it since my computer at the time didnt have a graphics card to handle it. Since then, I kinda left the Flight Sim scene and moved on to other video games(not aviation related) Finally im happy to say im back. Last night, I downloaded MS Flight. Its a start, but its no MSFS. Anyways, today I orderd MSFS2004 off ebay since every gaming store in my locale didnt seem to have ANY version what so ever. I figured since MSFlight worked on my new computer then MSFS X would as well. But went with MSFS2004 to be safe. Any how, it should be here by mid week. My question is, the multiplayer on 2004 I remember you being able to goto mszone and play through there. Thats no longer and option as I found out they took the servers offline..bummer. So is there any site any more that offers a server to play on? Or is it all through private matches? And i must say, this site has changed quite a bit since I was last on it years ago. Getting aircraft and other content,

Hello Tom and a big "Welcome Back Sir!"
Glad to see you chose to return to the FS world. A lot has happened @ Microsoft during the last several years while you have been away.

Of course FS2004 is long gone from regional retail store shelves, and is available only thru a few online retailers, but it is still a beloved favorite of many people (myself included!). It is the most rock-solid platform; howbeit the FS-coding is somewhat outdated. Great news though; designers are discovering new ways to get around the old roadblocks of FS9 encoding, and several are now delivering stunning FSX quality into the older simulator thru new scenery and new aircraft models.

FSX-Deluxe Gold Edition is still available in some retail stores, but is not easily operated by everyone's computer system unless they are powerful machines, and needs almost constant tweaking it seems for best ingame performance results.

FLIGHT was a total joke, and has just been canceled completely by Microsoft, who also has announced they are out of the flightsimulation market going forward. Who knows?

For FS multi-player flying, I am told that the FSHostSpy is good. Another is the VATSIM online network. The Pilot's Edge Network is brand-new, and supposed to be almost 100% realistic with real "live people" controllers interacting with you in real-time. It is confined to the Southern California geographical area though for the present time. I have included some multi-player related links for you to look at. Hopefully these will help you with your quests. I have not actually flown multi-player myself yet (I want too), so I cannot speak from real experience. Just trying to help.

Thanks for the comebacks. I have quite a bit of time in the air(real life) close if not more than 500 hours of complex, multi engine, and instrument flying. I was diagnosed with diabetes and this put a cloud over my flying career. Since the diagnosis never really had much intrest in it. Although I did play the sims for quite a while. Eventually lost intrest. I just recently got a job in avionics, and being around aircraft for 10 hours a day 6 days a week has sparked an intrest again. Also im running windows 7(64bit) on my new machine, I read on here in a few threads that this could be a problem if not installed correctly?

I'm running FS9 on Windows 7 64 bit with no problems. I have gone back to FS9 after running FSX for a few years with not a great success. To much stuttering etc and can only run at about 25fps. Running FS9 at 60fps and all sliders maxed out with no problems and with add on scenery looks just as great as FSX. My computer below.

    Intel i5-2500K 3.3GHz Quad Core, Asus P8Z 68-V LE MB, GTX 560 TI 1GB DDR5 graphics card, Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, 8gb Corsair Vengeance DDR3 ram , Viewsonic VX2233WM LCD 1080P HD Monitor. Seagate Barracuda 1 TB 64MB Sata3 HD
