I thought of that just after posting.

I had a look at my FSX Root Dir and found 2 of the fix files but one named UIAutomationCore.place_in_fsx_root.dll.

I have deleted this as I have no idea what purpose it served...

I'll have another go shortly and keep you guys updated.

    Many thanks for the reply.

Just a thought - you can use FSUIPC to save the flight (default every minute, rolling backup of 10 saves) so at least you can resume after a crash.

BTW, I have experienced your 'black sky and psychedelia' issue too. I was running an auxiliary monitor on a second graphics card with the 2D GPS panel. However, initially I ran it with the panel resized larger than the screen, to make best use of the active area of the panel. In this configuration the 'blackness' problem would inevitably happen sooner or later, often after switching from windowed mode back to full-screen as I recall. The problem went away completely when I made sure not to resize the panel bigger than the screen. Dunno what to make of all that, but it might ring a bell for you.

    **SOLVED**

It would appear it was the UIAutomationcore.dll and this has fixed my problem!

Only one more to solve and I am well away! Does anyone else fly the A321 Project Airbus?
