hello, I downloaded the Roland Peltre Vought F-8 Crusader and when I hit fly now after selecting the aircraft, I get the dreaded CTD. All my other aircraft work well. But I can't get this one to work. Anybody else experienced this?

I installed it this morning and it works fine for me. Can't believe I have not seen this plane before, it's a treat.
If you are using a custom default flight you might try loading a flight with the default C172 and then switch to the F-8.
Now back to sorting out all those animations, my French is not as good as I thought it was.

Occasionally you find gauges that cause CTDs. On my current system any aircraft with the "radiocd" gauge on the main panel will cause the "fly now CTD"; oddly, this doesn't occur if that gauge is on a popup panel, and it doesn't happen at all on my old XP system (naturally some moron had added that gauge to many of my aircraft). Another aircraft would CTD while loading if the HUD was active, editing the panel.cfg so the HUD window was not visible at startup cured that one; once in the cockpit I could open the HUD window with no problem (though admittedly I held my breath the first time). Have a set of Collins radios (look like merely graphic mods of the King Air radios but date to FS2000 days) which will CTD if installed on the main panel.
The common factors in each case seem to be older gauges (usually radio, nav, or HUD gauges), on the main panel or a window visible at startup, and Vista. All these aircraft worked fine in XP; W7 is similar to Vista in many respects so wouldn't be surprised if the issue persists there also.
If you eventually have no luck with this, Iris Simulations have a beautiful A7 Corsair which flies very nicely and can carrier land. It's not of course exactly the same as the F8, even though it's based on it. But to repeat, if you can't get the F8 working you may or may not find this an acceptable second choice.

Already got the IRIS Corsair
