Thread: FSX crashes to desktop with fatal error

  1. Default FSX crashes to desktop with fatal error

Can anyone help me in identifying the problem with FSX crashing to desktop with the message fatal error. I am using Windows 7, I also have add-on programs such as Ultimate Traffic for FSX, and FSpassenger for FSX, and aircraft downloaded from this site, including Radar, Flight-deck Fsx Panel, push-back rcb ground handling, with sp1 and sp2 for fsx. I am Also using the Saitek Pro Flight yoke System, using ATI graphic card with HD 3450, 512mb ddr2 with 1 gb hyper memory.

The problem is when in cockpit or mini panel view it crashes to desktop with fatal error then says restarting FSX. It can happen anytime during the flight plan flight. Is a big pain in the butt when landing and unloading passengers and then it crashes after a 4 hour flight. Can anyone help me with this problem. Thanks very much

I have seen a lot of threads on this subject and the reigning answer is to let FSX rebuild a new FSX.cfg file. this was from another thread on this very subject Try letting FSX rebuild your FSX.cfg file. Go to AppDate/Roaming/Microsoft/FSX then rename your FSX.cfg to FSX.XXX. Then start up FSX. If you have throttles, rudders, etc say no when asked to remap your keyboard. Had this happen to me last week and this did the trick!! I hope the "repair" you've already done doesn't stop this from working as it may have already overwritten your cfg to default values.

BTW: Didn't lose anything. The only thing you may have to do is OK add-on gauges, dlls, etc when you choose add-on A/C

FSX crashing to desktop with the message fatal error

In that fatal error dialogue box, there should be a reference to the module that was last seen prior to the crash. that would be helpful. Without knowing, it could be anything from OOM errors, uiautomationcore errors to bad hardware and no way of beginning to point you in the right direction without the information!

Do have patience. There are a lot of very knowledgable members here and they will have a good chance of getting you through this. Most crashes to desktops (CTD) can be fixed. Sometimes they just don't go away but that is the exception. I'm having one of those nightmares for the last 2 months but I will beat it. Like the guys say a new CFG is a good start. Look at that error report and see what it says. uiautomationcore.dll fix seems to help many. Power supply enough? Cooling? Some CFG tweeks help and some find the Jesus tweeks work. Some find more stability in XP mode. Definitly give full admin rights to the FSX.EXE. There are countless threads to search here and many, many "fixes". Do this one thing. As with all trouble shooting. Do only one thing at a time.

Do the fsx.cfg rebuild as Mr Zippy suggested then go to:http://www.venetubo.com/fsx.html
    To optimize your fsx.cfg file.
