Thread: 24” or a 27” monitor with 1920x1080 resolution?

  1. Default 24” or a 27” monitor with 1920x1080 resolution?

    Hi all,

I’m in the market for a new monitor for FSX (instead of having FSX on my 13” screen on my laptop). I’m considering a 27” (with instruments at almost the identical size as in reality) on a 1920x1080 resolution (Full HD 1080p).

But now I’m a bit concerned about the image quality of having 1920x1080 on a 27”; the pixels per inch will be like 81 as opposed to 92 ppi on a 24” monitor with the same resolution.

I know that also the viewing distance plays a role in this. With my Saitek Proflight yoke between me and the monitor, the viewing distance will be like 31 to 35 inches (80 to 90 cm). This viewing distance can be easily increasing by putting the monitor further away from me on my desk.

What are your experiences with this? What size monitor are most of you using with a single monitor setup? And what would you recommend me, should I go for a 24” or a 27” monitor?

Been down that "LCD TV" route and have found that monitors are far better suited for game resolution. I run a 28" Hanns 1920 X1280 and a Viewsonic 20" 1280x 800 and they work fantastic. By the way, good luck driving those monitors with a laptop video card.

I’m running a Samsung 32in TV/Monitor on a HDMI input at 1920X1080 res. On a GeForce450 graphics card with 1GB memory and I’m not experiencing any blurriness on my screen, thought about a 3 screen system but I’m satisfied with the results I’m getting with what I have… The distance to the screen is 48in. from the base of my pedals… on an eye level pedestal …
