Thread: FSX Autothrottle Problems

  1. Default FSX Autothrottle Problems

Today on FSX I tried to fly from Manchester (EGCC) to Milan Linate (LIML) originally with the default 737-800. The takeoff was OK and ATC gave me some vectors which I followed using the autopilot, without difficulties, however the problem started as soon as I'd engaged the autothrottle. The speed was set at 220 Knots then at over 10,000 feet I would increase it to 350 Knots but unusually, instead of slowing down from takeoff power, the throttle stayed fixed at around 70% and the airspeed kept building up untill the point of an overspeed, so I changed my aircraft to the default A321 and once again, after engaging the autothrottle, at 220 Knots, the throttle still remained fixed at around 70% but that time I allowed my aircraft to climb to over 10,000 feet to see what happened when I increased my speed. The same problem occured, but bizzarely, my aircraft then pitced up, stalled and began yawing from side to side. Once again I changed my aircraft but this time, I tried an add on aircraft; the project airbus A319, using the A321 vc. Yet I still experienced the same problem I had with the A321. What is causing this and how can I fix it?!!!!!!

Check the Failiours, and if there are non set consider changing the Default or even re starting FSX that what fixed it when I had an Auto Throttle problem !

Even dissengage the Auto Throttle idle the engins for a sec or too and then re engage the Auto Throttles

instead of slowing down from takeoff power

????I dont understand "stayed at 70% but airspeed increased"? It shouldn't if you increased the VS. Are you adjusting vertical speed at all in order to maintain a given IAS speed at a given N1? 350 knts IAS is rather high. I would set to 310 knts on the speed AT and use my VS to maintain that to FL240. Change to M70 and use VS to maintain that to cruise altitude. Many variable effect this!! Weight, OAT etc. I believe the Default 737 has an N1 capture you can set, not very realistic but its there. Set N1 to 90% for climb.

Check weight, Check CG. almost certainly that is where the problem lies.
