Thread: How do I set up a key assignment for taxi lights? Only landing lights found.

  1. Default How do I set up a key assignment for taxi lights? Only landing lights found.

Is there a way to add specific items to the keyboard/joystick assignment menus? I would like to control all of my lights independently and have only found either all lights or landing lights.

    Thanks.

Smack me upside my head if I'm out of line, but....how about flipping the switch on the control panel of the aircraft?

You can add an individual assignents using menu-> controls -> assignments.

    You are both absolutely right.

mrzippy: I prefer using the mouse as little as possible as I have a yoke, throttle and rudder pedals with lots of extra buttons.

Adam24: It's acutally options, settings, controls, but then the list of functions comes up to choose from and DOES NOT contain an assignment for taxi lights.

There are key events for 10 different classes of lights that you can assign in the standard.xml file.

If you have FSUIPC (and you should have at least the free version) there should be documentation that lists the events in the Modules folder, or you could get them from the SDK.

Sorry I cannot be of more specific help, don't have FS with me at the moment.

No problem. I can probably figure it out since you got me on the right track. I do have FSUIPC, but I'm just curious if it can be done without that or not.

    Thanks.

It can be done, as I said, by editing the standard.xml file with notepad.

Here is a link to the ESP SDK list of key events- http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/libr...craftLightsIDs

Use the text from the "String name" column, suggest you use the toggles.

Back up the standard.xml before you edit it.

The hard part is finding available keystrokes
