Default Adding AI Flights to FS9

I would like to add some NATIONAL AI airlines to the currently FOREIGN-ONLY AI Flights in FS9.

Have downloaded and installed WOAI aircraft and also their respective flight schedules/plans.

Have also downloaded Traffic Tools and, looking further into the subject, realize that one must do a lot of decompiling, recompiling and, particularly, adding some lines to the aircraft.cfg file of the various new AI aircraft.

It all sounds far above my ability to add aircraft, configure a couple of gauges into a panel.cfg file, and little else.

Is there a semi-automatic tool or a simpler process for a dummy like me to install additional AI traffic?

Or should I better cross this off my wish list and avoid the disappointment and risks that seem to loom ahead of me in such
    a project?

Any counselling on this would be most welcome.

    Many thanks.

Traffic Tools is not as complicated as you seem to think. In fact it is a neat piece of software which like all programs gets easier to use with practice.
Basically there are 3 .txt files:

Aircraft, a list of the AI aircraft, a reference number, aircraft speed and aircraft name exactly as in the title line of the aircraft.cfg file

Airports, a list of the airports, the 4 letter airfield code, latitude, longitude, height above sea level

FlightPlans, a list of the flight plans for each aircraft, aircraft reference number as in 'Aircraft' file, aircraft reg number, a percentage which is related to the percentage AI traffic set in Options menu, frequency of flights, VFR or IFR, list of timings and destinations.

Traffic Tools then compiles these three files into a file 'Traffic.bgl' in Scenery-World-Scenery

The ReadMe file that comes with Traffic Tools gives a lot more detail.
Its worth working with to get AI as realistic as you want.

Thanks, Allan, for the response and encouragement.

    Will give it a try.

One final question, Allan, if I may.

Have used TTools to decompile FS and have the three .txt files Aircraftxxx, Airportsxxx, FlighPlansxxxx.

Having the WOAI aircraft in the FS9 Aircraft folder (obviously they have folders for model, texture, and files .air and aircraft.cfg) could you enlighten me on how to get these into TTools so that they become available.

Will not bother you further with such probably very incipient questions - TTools mentions some programs which would automatically proceed further from where I am.

As you can see I am in the absolute dark and wondering about some tutorial which would enlighten me on adding the WSOAI aircraft and national flight plans (which I still dont know where to find - having read about Alpha India hope I might find it there).

Doing my own flight plans are well beyond my capability.

Your final response will dictate my attempting to go ahead with this project or just dropping it altogether.

Thanks for the willingness to help.

Forgot to mention that I also used Collect Airports from TTools - and FS9 airports were collected without problem.

    Thanks again.

Just to update info on my AI problem.

Using World-of-AI installer I have accomplished what I was looking for.

Thanks for the help and guidance.

I have never used WOAI as I prefer to do my own file editing.
I expect you now have two (or more) files 'Trafficxxx.bgl' in Scenery-World-Scenery and this is no problem. (I actually have three)
You just need to make sure that the reference numbers used for the aircraft are no duplicated.

A typical entry in the aircraft file is AC#12,143,"Cessna 208 Caravan Amphibian"
The name between the quotation marks is exactly as in the aircraft.cfg file following title=

So you can put any aircraft from your aircraft folder into your AI, but if you use too many flyable aircraft, rather than AI aircraft, the frame rates start to suffer.

Glad to hear that you have things up and running and I hope that this helps with further progress.

    Thanks for the help, Alan.

I now have 8 Traffic files (6 for the domestic airlines which have been added plus the Traffic030528.bgl which I assume was compiled by TTools and the original Traffic030528.bgl).

Local airports are now pretty busy and traffic is extensive, as I hoped for.

Frame rates have not been affected, probably because this new machine is pretty powerful to handle it all.

    Best of luck.
