    Default Hello

I thought it appropriate as a new member to introduce myself. My name is Bill and I live in the UK in Cheshire, about halfway between Manchester & Liverpool Airport.
Being a newcomer, and certainly no computer guru by any manner or means (I know where the on off buttons are!!!! ) I hope that this will not debar me from being accepted into your comunittee.
I had FSX on my computer many years ago and took the flying course in the program. In my youth I actually held a PPL (throught the Air Training Corps) and also at that time was a glider pilot, so I know a bit about the flying side fortunately if this is going to help, but flight simming, well a lot to learn. Having been away from it for many years, it was a program on television called Bush Pilots that prompted me to blow the dust off my old copy of FSX and re-install it on my computer. Having had a play around with it, and the various aircraft and airports within, I have realised that I want to make the basic game more realistic with better scenery and a wider choice of aircraft. It was whilst looking for these I saw the excellent choice within this website which prompted me without delay to join.
I hope that I can find new friends on this forum, and as I learn, pass on what I have learnt to others who, like myself, arrive in the future without any great level of knowledge.

I wrote on the site recently about having both FSX and FS9 on my machine since getting an Alienware 51, before I had no power to run FSX I gor my first Flt Sim in 1992 on two floppies and progressed through the editions till now but I much prefer FS9 and the fact that it now regsters 198Gb on my hard drive shows all the addons such as Traffic and the Airports mainly British I use Flightsim.com everyday and am addicted I am ex Forces so lie to fly into the airfields I have been to and the aircraft used from the 70's till now I originate from Eccles but now just outside Glasgow. I am still to get my PPL wheni get suffcient funds but flew in most of the fixed wing and rotary when in RAF both at controls when stationed at Central Flying School on numerous Aeromedical Evacuation flights. I hope you get the same pleasure i have had over the years and still do

Thanks for the welcome guys. Sorry I have not been very active so far, Ive been weighing up between FS9 and FSX and studying what is available. In between been getting used to the flying again unless otherwise distracted by that thing called my job.
I think I am going to focus on FSX following purchasing the Gen X scenery for it from Flightstore (excellent service for anyone who hasnt used them yet - almost next day delivery.
Could not believe the effect of these programs on the views from the cockpit. Spent most of my time just dawdling around Norfolk and Wales. With the treescape and airfields add ons I was stunned. There seems to be quite a lot of freeware around for scenery and aircraft as well, although I do get so confused with installing some of the packages. What a great new world.

Hello chaps, another newcomer and member of the Manchester massive here. Been simming for about a month now and loving it. Mainly flying out of Manchester EGCC for tubeliners or the local Barton Aerodrome EGCB for GA stuff. Having a whale of a time discovering this new virtual world.
