Just an idea here you might like too look at the 737-800 Checklist here it gives reference speeds and stuff like that... just find it in the list BTW its the only 737-800 one one therehttp://freechecklists.net/simchecklists.asp

And it 9 out of 10 times it would not be the disengaging of the Auto-Throttle but you would be too fast and it will not capture the G/S !!! Landing Speed 135 KIAS

I had tons of trouble with ILS landings at the beginning as well, but after a while (and with help of a user of this forum) I managed to get it right. You need to be in a certain altitude to capture the glide slope (the ATC controller usually gives you the altitude), but if you already intercept the localizer than your already at the correct altitude. Just keep practicing!
