I have recently found a FSX Effects folder and was wondering if anyone could tell me the name of the file witch has the wing vertex effect ? Is it "fx_cm_conc_wing_vort" ?

DX10 turned off? To find the DX10 Preview option check box, Start FSX>Goto Settings>Customize>Graphics, the DX10 Preview check box will be on the right hand side of the window in the Global Options portion above Light Bloom & Lens Flare check boxes. All planes do it, default and addon? Next flight take a screenshot so we can see.

What type of aircraft are you flying? Jet fighters, Jet airliners. How are your contrail effects? Is it the same black effect as the wingtip vortex?

Try this site and see if this helps any! http://forum.avsim.net/topic/279669-...gtip-vortices/ It seems to be saying something about the smoke file in the effects/texture area. I think it has a good picture of your problem.
After reading through some of the posts on the AVSim site it looks like it's due to having REX contrails? Have you downloaded REX software? There is a good contrail package in the file library here you might try. The other thing is to find a new and unscrewed with total Effects folder! Good Luck!

If the plane you are flying is supposed to have it, look in the aircraft.cfg file under the sections
[effects]
[smokesystem]
or [lights]
these types of effects are usually in one of those sections. If you see no vortex related reference under one of those headings, than the plane doesn't use it.
However, it could be installed in the aircraft.cfg file by editing; this may be difficult if it is related to a specific airplane unless it is programmed to be a smoke trail or light type of effect, even though it might look like a vortex.
