Thread: Why I fly

    Default Why I fly

Some of my friends wonder why I flight sim: This is why. For just a moment, I can leave my desk, I can forget about all my aches and pains and worries, all the things I need to do, all the things I forgot to do and just fly. I am flying a 1965 Boeing Sterman 75 from Catalina Island to Torrance California, using current weather and sky conditions in FS9. I get to listen to the wind whip through the cables and the hum of the engine and just fly.

Nice shots and an excellent reason for flight simming.

Ah yes my first appearance at this forum , yes i flightsim for exactly the same reason . This is the escape hatch i pull when things get too hectic. This post had had me thinking the whole day ! Im a dedicated heavy iron pilot for years and for quite a while i considered going the GA route and leave the heavies. When i saw that Stearman over the waters my mind was made up ! So im about to pull my piper cub out of the FSX hanger and just take off ....

You fly for the same reasons as me, just forget your troubles and for a few hours it's just you and the aeroplane (and maybe the auto pilot).
Sometimes when have a lot of pent up feelings I just love to let it out with a few aerobatics. I really must get round to uploading a few videos.

A good landing is one from which you can walk away...A GREAT landing is one after which you can use the aircraft again.

Well the stearman is the FS2004 Stearman Model 75 Duster and Sprayer Package by Robert Sanderson. I couldnt find it here but it is at SimV at http://simviation.com/1/download?fil...p&fileId=20363 . It is an interesting airplane to fly. You cant just jump in it and go though. Read the manual!
