Thread: So, What's Next?

  1. Default So, What's Next?

I've been away for awail on vacation and was toying with should i by alaska and that cub=since its about the price of a decent lunch- i was surprised but not shocked-im not a business man but is its failor from us hardcore guys who want a global simulator and x-plane 10 dropping its price? also can this mean they read all our compliants and saw people arent spending as much as they hoped and decided to step back regroup and i pray=MAYBE THEY FINALLY REALIZE BUILD US FS11 AND WE WILL ALL BUY IT IF ITS GOOD AND A REAL SIMULATOR-Then they will make real money as they have been for over 20/25 years with the franchise,,,not to mention all the polls on this site showing poor interest in this so called GAME=FLIGHT

What's next is that you continue to enjoy what ever version of the flightsim you currently have.

What I would like to see is that MS incorporate Google Earth into the sim. I don't know the logistics of how they'd do this, or if they even could... but if they did... I think that would regenerate the hard core simmers back into spending money into the simulator even though some of us feel jilted because they (MS) kind of left us at the alter with MS Flight.

For ME....? I'm happy now. I use Megascenery and Simsavy.... so I have no other needs. I'm a member of "Vatsim" and am perfectly content with what I have. I don't every use the "auto gen scenery" because with photo scenery, the auto gen objects appear disproportional to the photo scenery AND objects occasionally appear on the runways (boo).

In closing... if you like Flight... keep it. But, for most (and this is verified since MS discontinued Flight)... we need more.

I sure hope they resurrect the FS11 development although with the attitude MS takes towards it's customer base this would seem unlikely.
Big companies always think they are in all things superior to their customers, that's why they fail in the end.

In this case... MS can't fail... they're too big. I suspect it would take an act of charity for them to continue the flight sim project....From what I gather, they don't make money off of the fight sim game.... at least we have what we have.... enjoy it and keep using it and enjoying it.

PS... I just deleted, "Flight".... I have no use for it... if you do... enjoy!

They'd have to buy Google first, while would be a remarkable feat since Google's net worth is already nearly as much as MS's...

...in fact, it may already have surpassed it.

google doesn't own the Google Earth satellite data. It's licensed through a data provider that's shared by Bing as well. Check the back of the FSX Box you'll find them listed already.

I think what's next is X-Plane. A few versions down the road and they will eventually get enough right to make people shift over. FSX is a sitting duck in this regard.

Actually it's pretty clear it's in the hands of the developer which way it swings. There's nothing X-plane can do to get people to convert without the third parties, and P3D support is only via shovelware making it a patched FSX at best. Kind of like the division between Java and C#. If you are firmly in one camp this late in the game, it's hard to switch overnight and maintain the same level of productivity.

XPlane is for now the most promising sim. Thats true. But Laminar will have to work hardly to convince everyone. XP10 is fantastic, but it still haves some problems that make the FS stay with FSX. I give FSX no more than 10 years, then it will become the same as FS98 is now.

I still enjoy FS9 and FSX and intend to continue to do so. I don't see what extra XP or P3D offer at present to justify me spending money on them.
