    Default Mountain Scenery...

You can have a pretty adventurous time in this magnificent scenery...Captions are a bit unecessary as it is just the best scenery of mountains that I have seen in a flight simulator:-

The other shots can be seen here:-

On the whole I prefer Orbx textures, although there is far less shape shifting in Flight.
Nothing kills the realism more than montain mesh warping as you approach it. Thanks Peter. — Bob

Say, Pete... have you ever checked out the freeware GMap application for Flight? Coupled with PlanG (also freeware), it becomes possible to set up a (visual) flightplan in PlanG, save it to an FSX compatible .pln file, then load that flightplan into GMap...

It certainly makes threading your way through the mountain valleys and passes a lot more fun!

The photo below (sorry for the crappy quality) shows PlanG and GMap on my 24" left-side monitor and Flight's Maule M-7 on my main 42" HDTV LED monitor. Also shown in the foreground is GMap for FSX on my 10.5" Toshiba Thrive Tablet (not connected of course)...

Although GMap for Flight can be displayed on a single monitor setup as a keyboard commanded popup, I prefer to run it on my side monitor. In either case, it's handy for a quick reference.

You can also purchase optional data packs for GMap including Alaska Sectional and WAC charts. In fact, the Alaska sectional is being displayed by GMap for Flight, and the US Continental WAC charts are loaded on the Thrive Tablet.

Thanks Bill...That looks interesting but I use FS9 and wonder if GPLAN is compatible...I'll look into it. I do use an iPad2 in front of me the same place as your tablet...I find it convenient to use the iPad MAP on that. I do use two monitors so I could run the same as you if GPLAN is compatible with FS9.
