Thread: FSX Freezing

    Default FSX Freezing

FSX is freezing after 1.30-1.50 hours consistently, sound still operates, system has 8GB Ram in memory, after 8 mins. flight re-activates. Any suggestions why this happens.

    Anything in the event viewer?
Is it a hard crash or an application crash?
    Any error messages?

Sounding like a heat build-up problem. Make sure all your fans and vents are clear and clean.

    Have you got SP2 loaded

Mine used to do that until I loaded SP2 which fixed a memory leak

I think you may be running out of memory. I had the same problem until I upgraded to 16GB of RAM. FSX will still freeze occasionally if I switch between windows too quick.

Fsx will only use 4G of ram, so 16G is overkill. Posting your system specs will lead to a solution rather than a bunch of wags.

Search this forum for UIautomation.dll problems. This is a widely reported problem if you are using Win7 64bit

UIAutomationCore.dll file tinkering didn't do a thing for me. I went so far as to get a Vista 32 copy from the wife's laptop and swapped it out the the original...to no avail. I also tried copying it into the FSX main directory. Eventually I reverted back to the original file in its original location.

Adding HighMemFix=1 and other language in the FSX.cfg did wonders for my system. See my post entitled "Performance Question: DirectX 9 or DirectX 10" for more details.
