The Dell xps 8500 is available in several configurations. The buyer has the choice of 2 different AMD cards or an Nvidia card. You only get one card in your computer. If all else fails, rtfm!

ok i have some good news. i was able to replace my graphics card and got rid of the amd with out voiding my warrenty in my new pc. but now i wonder is this gt240 going to cause bottle necks and slow things down? or is that more what the processor handle and not the graphics card?

Why would you replace the graphics card on a new computer? and then ask if it will work? Given your lack of computer knowledge I would suggest that you leave your computer alone before you bugger it completely.

Oh lighten up AB. Cessna has come along way in understanding his equipment. Sometimes "breaking" something and then fixing it can do wonders for the learning process.

Cessna - Having the two major competing brands (AMD, nVidia) GPUs installed in your computer can have wonky results. Although it is possible I would recommend pick one and uninstall/disable the other. You can always re-install at a later time once you are ready to learn about and deal with some of the problems of having both sets of drivers on a system.

thank you paxx. there is no sence to some one being like that. i did not change video cards after all. because the AMD card i have is a higher end card then the nvidia is. so i left well enough alone. the nvidia will remail in my old desktop pc.
