    Default Problems Adding Aircraft

    Hi all,

Recently I have been trying to add a bigger aircraft (Boeing 767/777, Airbus A380, etc) for international flights. I successfully download the aircraft files and extract them to my created folder. I then copy the aircraft folder over to SimObjects\Airplanes folder. Sometimes the aircraft shows up, sometimes it doesn't. The aircraft that I have been able to successfully load up on FSX has little to no functional switches/knobs, no working GPS or screens, no working panels, and so on. I have followed all "ReadMe" notes in the folders as well, but with little to no success.

I would like to mention that I am currently running SP1 as SP2 caused my menu bar and ATC menu to become illegible and glitchy. Seeing as I am new to flight simulating and the computer side of flight simulating, I need some input/help on what steps to take from here to help and solve this problem.

Any help or suggestions is greatly appreciated!

    Happy flying

Well, first make sure you didnt downloaded just a texture. Then, make sure the aircraft is compatible, reading all the notes and info in the files included. And finally, make sure you did everything the readme file says. Sometimes it takes time to know exactly what to do there.
The best thing to do, is to keep practicing.

Thank you for the reply, Adam. I have done everything I know how to do, including reading the ReadMe texts. Can you post a link from the site of a larger plane that is capable of making that international flight that you know works?

An unrealistic but possible idea to a solution: would replacing the downloaded aircraft's specs with another working planes specs (gauges, panels, etc) have any effect? In other words, I just need an aircraft that has the fuel capacity to make it to the destination. Even though this is unrealistic, could this be an option?

When downloading aircraft here at Flightsim, a gold check mark next to the file info indicates that it is a complete aircraft, not a repaint or ai.

Yes, before I search for any aircraft I select the option that states: Complete aircraft with model, panel, sound
