This is a very good post, and I completely agree. Microsoft has changed for the worse since Gates left the top job and Ballmer et al took over. They are completely driven by money and don't seem to care much for making good product and building loyalty with users. It's a sorry state of affairs.
AND justice has been done. enough said, I will sleep well tonight.
Only proves that Greed was all that mattered for Microsoft.
I feel sorry for to tose who bought addons, they are now going to be stuck with a pretty worthless bunch of stuff. I never bought XPlane-but it seems the NEW version basically messed it up for those with older versions, and the new version-although it has a few nice details, is a JOKE--I still fly FS9, mainly because I dont have the money for that new super-fast computer needed for FSX--I own FSX, and someday will be able to enjoy it on a new computer-But I still like FS9-its a shame so many people have stopped making addon scenery of any worth for FS9, and it seems we are now just looking at endless repaints, for both FS9 and FSX--a lot of the homemade FSX scenery is junk--and home-built FS9 is becoming harder to find.
X-Plane 10 is all but a joke, and I'm able to use every add-on I bought for version 9. Seriously testing yourself a free demo is better than reading what forum trolls have to say. Of course, every new program or version brings some issues, but the situation is a lot better than with FSX beta 2 (called "SP2"). I also don't have a super-fast computer able to run FSX.
Just reading all these posts reminds me of the reaction dedicated flight simmers had when EA dumped Janes sims way back when. I had purchased all of the Janes software from USAF to F18 and like many other simmers was eagerly awaiting release of A10 the ultimate mud mover. When it was about ready to go beta EA pulled the pin and all the staff were given the flick. The fact was that regardless of our love for flight sims EA (and now MS) concluded that the market was limited and not the cash cow they were hoping for. Money talks doesn't it.
I was only recently about to have a squiz at Flight but it looks like I will continue my love affair with FSX. I may be odd, but with FSX I restrict my flying to civil aircraft as I prefer to leave the military hardware to dedicated programmes. Maybe I'm just getting mellow in my old age.![]()
It's called "prejudice," nothing more nor less...![]()
