Thank you Glenn, much appreciated. I hear ya on the Skymaster, I love that bird, Carenado really helps to make the scenery look good!

Incredible job Jim, but what do you expect from a developer from Orbx. Maybe Orbx will do that area of the country some day, or maybe they are. Super shots my friend.

First off, awesome shots!!! I live over by KIWI so most of that is right in my area of FS and R/L flying. In fact, I rarely make requests, but both KIWI Wiscasset Municipal Airport and 08B Merrymeeting Field (where I soloed, hehe) are in desperate need of a make over. I would be forever grateful, if you can't no big one, but if you could it would be sooooo awesome.

Hi cool7, I think your best bet is to wait until Orbx does the area, I'm sure you'll get it sooner, lol. I'll check out those airports though, looks like they're fairly close by. Thanks for the kind words, BTW .

Nice shots, Jim. Looks like ORBX!

Especially the roads and bridges look nice. Heck, I guess I have a lot to catch up with now. I should try some roads.

Did you upload any of your sceneries as freeware so far?

    Thank you Tiberius, much appreciated.

I think the roads and bridges you mention are actually in the photoreal in this case. I did a fairly large photo area for Bar Harbor which is what you see in the 5th shot and beyond. The bridge in shot #6 is made up of those segmented library object bridges (c45eea03-a40e-464b-8347-26a382dfb57e) from one of the default FSX libraries. I used Instant Scenery's "row of objects" function to place those which worked pretty slick BTW .

In the 4th shot though you can see parts of the vector roads and extrusion bridges I did for the Deer Isle/Stonington area which is 20 nm southeast of Bar Harbor.

Shots 1-4 show the water overlays I mentioned earlier with the landclass islands showing through. That's the neatest thing I've come up with in a while, it took me all of about 2 hrs from start to finish on those, the imagery was low-resolution at I believe LOD14, and the .bgl came out to only about 43 megs. Lotsa "bang for the buck" on that one . I used a print screen of the water polys from TMFViewer stretched out over the imagery source to make the blendmask. Once stretched into position I just used the magic wand tool to select the white areas (land) from the TMFViewer screenshot and filled that area with black on the blendmask. That of course only works when you have accurate water polys that perfectly match the imagery, which I did because I'd updated the water and shorelines for the area in a prior step using the imagery in SBX as a guide.

The only scenery I've ever uploaded was a small Perrine Bridge (KTWF area) add on for FS9. This Bar Horbor project can't be distributed because of the commercial imagery I used from SBX, it was just something I did for fun.

    Thanks again,
    Jim

    Jim,

That is STUNNING, completely looks like ORBX to me and I actually thought they might be releasing some teaser shots thru a beta tester here. Bravo on the work. I learned how to fly in New England and LOVE using FS to fly around in my GA birds in that part of the world.

if your interested in a "beta" tester for this..please drop me a line

    Nice work!
I'll be visiting Maine and Acadia in September for my vacation. My first trip to the State.
