Thread: Changing the aircraft.cfg in FSX

  1. Default Changing the aircraft.cfg in FSX

Adding a livery requires changing the aircraft.cfg file, and when I attempt to save the change I get an error message telling me that the action is "Unauthorized" - I can't add the livery because I can't save the change- even with AdditPro.

    Can anyone help?

    Thanks!

    Windows "7" and FSX

As with all Win 7 and I think Widows Vista computers you must turn off UAC so you can make changes to files in programs that are in the programs folder. UAC protects your system like a firewall so outside interests can't make changes to you programs.

I copied this for an older post. Turn off User Account Control, save the file, and turn UAC on again. You can access UAC from Control Panel/User Accounts.

Take everything I say with a grain of salt and maybe some pepper! There's no such thing as too much garlic!

Another way to do this, without having to mess with UAC, is to copy the aircraft.cfg to your desktop.

Edit the copy on your desktop and save changes.

Copy the edited aircraft.cfg back to the aircraft folder.

I do this all the time. Works perfectly and you don't end up saving as the wrong file type.
