Thread: The Holy Grail of FSX - The Intel i7 3770(k)

  1. Default The Holy Grail of FSX - The Intel i7 3770(k)

    Hey everyone!

Just built a new PC with a Intel i7 3770 (non K, slightly cheaper and I don't overclock) with 3.40 GHZ stock and up to 3.90 GHZ with Turbo Boost. I am running it along with a EVGA GTX 560 Superclocked 2GB DDR5 and 8GB of DDR3 RAM.

Let's just say, this has changed flight simulator for me. I can now run the PMDG NGX with FSX COMPLETELY MAXED out alongside REX Essentials and GEX with 30-40FPS solid in heavy metro areas. The rest of my planes (A2A, Carenado, Flight1) all are running anywhere from 60-80FPS rock solid.

I've already optimized my .cfg and applied all the tweaks.

I used to run an AMD X4 640 3.0GHZ Quad, which is no slouch but doesn't even compare to the i7. So I wanted to throw this out to everyone in the market for an affordable, excellent performing CPU, to check out the i7 3770(k).

Not to mention all my others games like Battlefield 3 and Skyrim have doubled in performance. I worship Intel now lol!

    Thank you!

While your enthusiasm is noted, I find this part a bit amusing...

This CPU alone retails for the price of a complete office computer in South Africa. Hardly what one would call an affordable CPU, but I am sure its fast.

Considering, this CPU alone costs more than 11x the price of the FSX software you are trying to run. FSX was released six years ago, in 2006.

In the US it retails for $319.99.....I guess affordable is relative to what kind of system you want to run. I think total I MAYBE hit $1000.00 putting this together for FSX. I was just trying to beat back the CPU hungry beast that is FSX LOL!

I have th same processor and 8gigs ram.. I am upgrading from a radeon 7570 to a gtx 650Ti. WHat tweaks do you have and what did you change in the CFG? I am only seeing between 10-25 fps. Please list your exact FSX settings!
