  1. Default How to make a proper back up folder?

    Hi. How do you make a proper back up folder for FSX. I the installed FSX then i just copied and pasted that folder and ran the insatll from the copied back up folder. I played a couple of missions just to get a couple of rewards and went to play the origonal install and the rewards where there also. How do you do it so the origonal does not get played if you no what i mean. Thanks..

    Thats because FSX puts the files related to the user (flights, loogbook) into another folder, called Flight Simulator X. That folder should be in your documents. Screenshots are in a folder called the same, located in pictures.

    Assuming Win 7/Vista, FSX file locations:
    fsx.cfg and GrantedRewards.BIN, {C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX}
    Your control settings = Standard.xml {C:\Users\User Name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\FSX\Controls}
    Logbook.BIN and flight plan files {C:\Users\User Name\Documents\Flight Simulator X Files}
    scenery.cfg {C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\FSX}

    You would have to give the file a non-default name so it won't be used. GrantedRewardsDefault.BIN, GrantedRewardsNew.Bin etc
    Copy the original to desktop, rename it and put it with the original. With the sim off you can now change the name(s) to use which one you want.

    I do that with fsx.cfg and scenery.cfg depending on the type of flying I intend. As always back up any file you decide to change...Don
