Utterly safe to rename FSX.cfg to FSX.cfg,bak

Do so.

Addon lines are limited to gauges, so please do treat fsx.cfg rebuild as first, most important step.

The rest is this usual Jesus rubbish. If you don't know what a line says and does, do NOT include it. I simply don't care that Jesus or Mohammed, Krishna or Satan tells you to use. IT IS NOT RELEVANT.

START with a basic FSX.cfg element.

kjb: Yes P3D is far more stable since it doesn't use UIAutomationCore.DLL at all, instead it actually relies on DirectX like every other game. Changing views won't crash the app no matter how hard you try.

OK here it is. The latest things I have done.

1. Saved under a diferent name the old cfg and let FSX create a new one.
2. Went into the bios screen and disabled the HT.
3. I added the following lines and changes to the cfg and that is all. [JOBSCHEDULER] AffinityMask=14 HIGHMEMFIX=1 and changed the WideViewAspect=True (was false). I don't think anyone would argue these simple and needed tweeks.
4. No jesus tweeker used, or any other tweeks.

I will now conduct a few flights and get back to ya.

Ok so flew for about 10min with no CTD but... Twice when selecting gps buttons (zoom) the fsx threw a fit and minimized. I somehow threw thowing my own fit and rapidly pressing the minimized FSX button re animated fsx to the screen and continued on as per normal. Other than that the frame rates suck As low as 3 but upwards of 15 are the norm and not the 25-29 I'm use to. But no crashes and that is all I can ask for right now. Just got to get those frame rates up and be stable.

Thanks kjb. I read all that and the related links. I also looked back at the error reports and the most common were panel problems. After reading up on that for a day I then went through a couple hours of constant every 5 minute CTDs. I tried a vanilla install on my desktop and even installed FSX on a new 2.2gh laptop I got and still got CDTs every 10-15 minutes.

I love FSX and it rapidly became my favorite hobby and excape from the stress of work (which ironicly is flying). I want to thank everyone here at flightsim.com for your help and support. I just don't have any fight left in me. I give up.

It's even more odd that you're getting them on two systems. I have a total of seven systems (some not currently in use) and can't remember any of them having CTD problems.

Before you give up completely, you might take a look at P3D. It also has a g3d.dll file, but with a more recent date stamp, so maybe that bug has been squashed. Most addons work with it and more publishers are getting on board.

Yea perhaps prepar3d. I understand there is a version now for $50 that anyone can buy. I have a load of FSX addons and saitek hardware. I wonder how much of it would work on p3d. Honestly I don't think I would care if I had to start over with addons. I just want stability at this point. I just bought all of Flight. It has potential but it will be slow with MS cutting all the third party programers and forcing themselves to go it alone. I think If people come back after having had CTD with FSX then bought P3d and tell us they had stability I will jump on that. I live in Canada. I wonder if any addon scenery exist of Canada for P3D ?
