Thread: Flight Alaska vs FSX Alaska (and FS9)

Yah, sometimes it takes 30-60 minutes to load the game though. Seems to work better after midnight, I guess when fewer people using the service.

Here are 2 more screenshots where the SAT images are mixing in with actual FSX objects and buildings...

    Note:
The Mount Rainier ones are the clearest so far, I think I had the settings slightly higher when I took those, but it might make the game take 1 hour to LOAD if I max all Tile Proxy settings. I am playing with 30cm (max texture res), but I have the area loading a smaller radius (LOD) than max.

I contemplated using that, but it seemed like I needed a degree in computer programming to use it....

The instructions were intense. As were the other things I read; some saying it took WEEKS to get a little area of scenery into FSX.

Most of the time programs like that you just have to take one step at a time, once you've done it once it'll make more sense. It's always hardest the first time. Agree sometimes they use too much technical JARGON, I'm in the computer field and some of the JARGON they use should not be done without explanations, but that's life...

No harder or easier than Tile Proxy.

No, it would take a few HOURS to get a little area of scenery into FSX. I suppose those people were not doing something right.
    Thanks,

    Jim

I saw a Youtube vid, and the poster mentioned it took weeks of constantly downloading 24/7 to get the scenery to look like it did in his video..

    *Edit* here's the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PWkBHmdIlZk

The comment: "Downloading and converting to FSX scenery files took a few weeks (non-stop). Especially the converting takes a lot of time".

Anyone who uses a -1 download resolution is nuts to begin with. A higher resolution would have led to the same results in a much shorter period of time. I did the whole USA in the same period of time, not working non-stop.
    Thanks,

    Jim

Hey Jim, I'd love to see some screenshots of your success with FSEarth, if it's not too much to ask. Like I said, the instructions alone made my head explode; would like to see what I'm missing..

OK, when I get a chance I will post a few, but in the screen shot forum. They will NOT be FSX but with FS 04 at the highest resolution possible. Doing some hard disk maintenance so it might be a few days.
    Thanks,

    Jim

That's fine, I'd just like to get an idea of what yours looks like.
