Two PMDG 747 questions ?

1) What should I do if I want to descend earlier, perhaps 10-15nms from Top-Of-Descent? Do I press the 'DES NOW' LSK Key in DES VNAV Page and reset MCP Altitude or should I just enter the new MCP altitude and push the altitude button? I dont know.

2) How do I know what runway to land on? Since I dont use IFR planning and neither do I use ATC during my flight except during takeoff and landing.

One more concern that I have is, I'm not always available to monitor my flight, so engage VNAV and LNAV, but sometimes when i return I find my VNAV disconnected and the plane exceeding bank angle with the plane going off course despite LNAV being turned on and autopilot being on.

1. If you wish to descend before TOD (or any time really), enter your desired FL and push the button. The aircraft should level off at the chosen FL.

My PMDG 747 does occasionally mirror what you have outlined, don't know why (maybe sometimes connected with your weather settings, e.g. wind sheer). Quickly take control with your yoke and level off, push VNAV again and you should be ok.
