.... look for the 295 296 on e-bay they running at about $300 then you will need the cables & a piece of software to interface .... if you looking to the 500 series, well, this is a different story

It's just a shame that it doesn't have an lcd - just a static graphic - I'm not having a go at the product, just making sure others are aware before they purchase (as I nearly did a little while ago), and also because it is something dear to my heart - have been searching for a good gps alternative, including attaching a real gps and interfacing to fsx, but again, although this can be done, it would appear you can display information on the real Garmin gps, but you can't use the real gps to "talk" to fsx and control it.

Has anyone tried to use the DTA GPS with X-Plane using Reality XP530?
Reality says they have the software, but is it compatible with the 2450?
I see that the GPS screen on the Reality XP can be undocked without the
buttons and placed inside the DTA's 2450 GPS monitor. But what about the
    button settings?

The G530 looks a bit different to the Garmin 500 depicted with the 2450
GPS. But the similarities between the two should not prevent its use
    with X-Plane and Reality XP

    Any thoughts?
