Thread: Beechcraft C90B Ver 3 (Waldron and Verlin) radios problem fix

  1. Default Beechcraft C90B Ver 3 (Waldron and Verlin) radios problem fix

As downloaded, the C90B Nav or COM radios would not change frequency in the panel view or the pop up radios view. The solution that worked for me was to revise the [radios] section of the C90B aircraft.cfg to all the same [radios] entries that are used on the FS2004 default King Air 350 aircraft.cfg [radios] section. Then revise the C90B [radios] entry to delete the ADF.2 line, since the C90B has only one ADF. Apparantly, the problem was that the downloaded [radios] section of the C90B has entries for NAV.1 and COM.1 that enable standby frequencies. The radio gauge(s) used in the C90B Ver 3 do not have standby frequency capability, and that locked up the simulation's ability to change NAV.1 or COM.1 frequency.

This is a common problem, though I fail to see how someone can upload an aircraft with non-functioning radios. You don't need to remove entries for non-existant radios, if the radio isn't there, FS will ignore those entries (you'll see data for COM2 radios, which FS9 has never had).

    jgf,
You said: 'you'll see data for COM2 radios, which FS2004 has never had'. That's NEWS to me. Are you sure you don't mean 'ADF2'? I get ATC on Com1 and ATIS on Com2. So am I imagineing things? Hum???

COM2 radios work on my FS9 installs. Maybe you haven't had your audio panel set up correctly to hear it. Most aircraft by default load with COM1 selected and if you don't have or don't use an audio panel to select COM2 you will never hear it. Just to make sure I loaded the default Baron on the ramp at KSEA and I'm listening to the ATIS on COM2 right now.

    pfflyers,
    Of course.

    donindowners,
You said: '..and that locked up the simulation's ability to change NAV.1 or COM.1 frequency.' Er, I don't think that is the reason, because your Com1 radio CAN'T tune a Nav1 frequency. They have different ranges. When you have standby ability you tune 'active' to Com1 and standby frequency to Com2. For Nav1 it's usually the ILS frequency for your intended landing runway, where the Nav2 can be tuned to the DME/ADF frequency. If you only have one Com and one Nav radio you will not flip a switch to get 'standby' frquency, you would spin the dial to tune to the ('other') the desired frquency (manually). OK? OK!
