Thread: Stupid aircraft folders becoming shared automatically?! Annoying Problem

  1. Angry Stupid aircraft folders becoming shared automatically?! Annoying Problem

I have Windows Vista and up till recently all fine.
I've always had a folder on my desktop called HANGAR to transfer planes in and out of my main FS9 aircraft folder whn I need them.

Although only recently I get a really annoying problem where if I drag an aircraft folder from my aircraft FS9 folder to the HANGAR it automatically shares itself and has a shared icon on it?! Then when I try to put it back in the FS9 aircraft folder from my HANGAR folder, if it's shared I get an error message (see screenshot) and I click continue and the "moving" window with status bar comes up but it doesnt do a thing.
Yet the shared icon has now gone on the aircraft and so i click and drag it over to the FS9 aircraft folder and it works.

But then I'm left with dozens of windows that dont respond on my taskbar
Then again when I transfer the folders over to my HANGAR again they will become shared.

I reaaally don't know why it's doing this, I don't really want to do a system restore and would appreciate a lot of help!

    Kind Regards and thanks,
    Matthew

If I can recommend you something, that is moving to XP or W7. Vista is very unstable, and its not effective.

As a W7 user I highly recommend XP

Aside from it being time to move up to a newer OS as suggested by Adam24, have you ever tried simply cutting and pasting. . .rather than dragging a file from one point to another? Open your aircraft folder in FS9 so that you can also see enough of your desktop to see the "Hangar" folder. Highlight the aircraft you want to move to the hangar, right click and select "cut", then put your cursor on the "Hangar" folder, right click and select paste and they'll all be transferred. I believe the "dragging" function is what's causing them to be "shared". Cutting and pasting should eliminate that.
