I would like to begin by saying that the FSX P-3C_V29 by Team KBT is a great model. The external and internal detail is fantastic and the flight realism good. I suffer from a few problems which I think are related to the V29 issue for FSX not somehow being finished off properly.
If I could list some areas where a fix is needed and if anybody has any ideas they would be appreciated, KBT have not responded to my emails on these issues.
Engine Guages - The SHP or HP guage is inaccurate and appears to underread by a significant degree @75%. The P-3 should be showing 4910 HP for Take Off, constant for mil type operations (fast and up and down) of 4680 HP and normal operating of @4365 HP. I find on take-off the guages run up to the proper value then roll back to about a quarter and subsequent power lever changes are limited, not in the model response, but the visual guage indication. My take on this is probably an XML guage coding issue not an aircraft config issue.
[I]Altimeter[I] - The Altimeter overeads on the guage by 150 ft or 5 mb's which would in real flying render it unserviceable, the guage appears to reference a value that the auto-pilot also uses to maintain altitude and will always overread. Not sure how you fix this.
HSI - The HSI has clickable knobs for the HDG bug and CRSR but they do not function in VC mode and only in 2D mode but are driven by the AutoPilot sub panel.
Fuel System and Controls - Rolling the mouse over the fuel panel in the cockpit indicates clickable toggle switches, fuel pump and fuel cut out appear operative but the tank selector switch does not function. Model shows full tanks but consumption values are indicating only one tank is being used and it is not possible to switch to the other tanks in flight, CTRL-X saves the day but frustrating. Seems lot of the interconnectivity between fuel system parameters and the engines in the model may be unfinished. Any one got a fix on how to bring these switches to life?
Engine Starting - Despite various suggestions sourced here and a fix.zip file with an amended aircraft config file, I have been unable to restart the engines once shut down, shut down can be achieved by the fuel cut-out switches or the engine ignition switches. The engine start switches on the overhead give no mouse indication of being anything other than a graphic at this stage. Was the 2004 version different?
Panel lighting can be a bit whacky now and then and some erratic shadin happens a lot.
With the above fixed this would be the perfect share3ware public license model around, because otherwise it is fantastic and great fun to fly. I recently took it from Hobart to Macquarie Island, found the Island, took some snaps and headed back to Invercargill in NZ. Great fun. Climbs like a steam train steady as a rock and you can through them around like a good military aeroplane should be.
Any help or suggestions welcome.
