Thread: Ways to make FS9/2004 Run Faster?

  1. Default Ways to make FS9/2004 Run Faster?

As the title suggests, how can I make my fs9 run faster?
Financial restraints prohibit a gaming computer or new machine for now, I'm just looking to fine tune my current 'ride'.

    Cheers guys

Also, does having things like 'my computer' open slow down the pc?

Just a quick tip. Try "Overclocking" your processor to boost things a bit. But read about this procedure carefully and don't have your processor melt into a puddle of sludge! Defrag the HDD, get rid of unused programs, turn off antivirus programs if you can unhook from the internet for a while when flying! These are some of the INEXPENSIVE things to try!

Turn down your settings in FS. No, but why would My Computer be open anyway? Only if you have a bunch of unnecessary utilities running at the same time would your FS experience be affected.

What are your computer specs right now?
    Thanks,

Do a search for fs9 tips and tricks........there is a thread out there with a lot of useful information. If I had a system that was struggling with FS9, the first thing I would do is make sure that it's being started with high priority. You can do also do that in the task manager. I'd also try to see if the motherboard allows some Overclocking. That aside, you definitely need to post specs.

As all the other guys have said but also get rid of all the unwanted crap from the game like lessons, history and WW1 stuff. All you need is the AI,weather, scenery, and ATC. They are all in the Menu of the game files. One warning though, do not delete ones without a specific title !!!!

I don't think a single person has stated to delete anything from FS. Doing so will not not increase performance one single bit and may in fact render the sim useless.
    Thanks,

    Jim
