Thread: Where to fly the "boat plane"

  1. Default Where to fly the "boat plane"

Sorry I'm a newbie to this game. I was wondering where can I fly that plane with the "boat skis" on it from? If you start it off from standard runway you obviously cannot take off due to no wheels. I forget the name of the plane and I'm at work. It's one of the defaults with FSX that you are supposed to take off from water with. Where can I start it off from? Thanks in advance for your responses.

If you mean the Goose then you can look at the FSX Map and around many bodies of water there are blue anchor icons to identify water ports.
    Thanks,

    Jim

Rather than looking at a map and hoping there might be a water runway in your field of view, just download a pdf from Microsoft that has a list of all the water airports.

    http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...20in%20FSX.pdf

or if you don't like the direct download, http://www.microsoft.com/Products/Ga...verywhere.aspx has the above link to download the pdf.

or if downloading isn't your thing http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.ph..._to_fly_f.html shows an online list.

Go to the map and move the plane to a body of water. Set the altitude to zero. Then go into sim. Now you'll be on the water even if it's not an actual airport.

I can recommend you a very special airport: Princess Juliana Intl, code TNCM, located in the caribbean. If you want to know why it is special, then search in YouTube. Its a really good place for all kind of flying.

BillBixby, which aircraft are you wanting to fly? There is a difference between a "Float Plane" and a "Flying Boat",float equipped planes are like the DeHavilland Beaver or the Cessna C-185 both are extremely capable "Bush Planes".The Flying Boats on the other hand are like the China Clipper or the Shorts Sunderland etc.and are able to cross oceans and for the most part are no longer used. The Grumman G-21 Goose is still in service all over the world and are,in my opinion, one of the most usable aircraft ever built. If you're not familiar with the old Flying Boats,Google them and check out the results. That was when air travel was something special!

Hi yeah I was referring to the Haviland Beaver. I followed the guide that was posted and got to a water port. Pretty cool stuff taking off and landing in the drink!!!
