I would ask the Rex guys on the Rex forum , they answer quickly to posts & the answer won't be a best guess.

After you download it, burn a BACKUP copy along with your registration information to a CD/DVD and then you'll have it for a very long time.
    Thanks,

If you buy the download version from flightsimshop you get unlimited downloads of it, and they also have the registration info you need to install it...

Do you have a USB Thumb drive? If so just put your downloads on that or even a larger USB external drive !! That way you won`t have to burn it onto a disc..

What if you don't have the $$$ for an external drive, but you have $2 for a DVD+RW?
    Thanks,

I would wait or if you don't want to, make sure you have backed up everything.I ruined my perfectly running FSX with REX 2.0 after upgrading to essential.

Sorry to hear that RexE RUINED your FSX. Most of the RexE issues stem from a poor installation, settings set to high or installing Essential over overdrive, which causes huge problems.
There is a huge improvement over 2.0 with Essential, especially the weather engine. It is very smooth and no severe wind shifts.
