There are a lot of reasons why VAs come and go including financial costs such as web hosting, disgreements between staff members but I think a lot of it has to do with time.
Most peopel don't realize how much time it takes to run a virtual airline. It is not as simple as throwing a couple of aircraft together, some schedules, a quick web site and that is it.
Building a VA is one thing, but you need to maintain it and keep things fresh and this involves a considerable investement in time (minimum 10-15 hours a week).
There are new VA startups all the time. Those that are willing to invest the time, succeed. Those that don't, eventually close down.

I flew for Paradise Airways which also stopped without any warning to the pilots, along with New Pacific West from which Paradise originated. It's sad some of these were awesome, especially Paradise, it had some of the best liveries and website I have ever seen in a VA. I wish they'd start up again but none of this is within my control. Just try to find a more established VA that hopefully covers what you're looking for.
I think like anything, you have to find a person who is in charge of the VA that can fully fund a VA. I have started and passed off a Virtual Airline to a new managing person, but I made sure this person could afford and would continue this virtual airline, maybe not in the same manner I did, but in a new manner.
I have gone on to start a completely different virtual airline, and the web domain is fully funded for 3 years, and when that time comes I will fund it for another 3, because I enjoy meeting people that enjoy aviation as much as I do. Keep at it, and you will find the right fit.
