    Thumbs up Fsx + ht

    Hi all
ive read a few forums regarding FSX and hyperthreading. I want to purchase the i7 3770K but i might as well just go for the i5 3570K. The only reason i want to go for the i7 is because its got HT. Now i know fsx doesnt really support that, but if you have two exact systems, with the exact OS, and fsx + addons, but only one has the i5 and the other the i7, would you see a fps difference when youre at a detailed busy airport with PMDG type aircraft or some place that the cpu is put to test, basically. And both are maybe oc'd to 4Ghz for example.
I dont want to waste an extra few bucks on something "bigger&better just because its an i7" while the i5 would and could do the same. On the otherhand getting the i7 obviously wont be a bad choice.

    Cheers

    Hi Reeben,

I'm no expert, but the i5-3570K has HT, it may only be able to handle 4 threads compared to the i7-3770K's 8 threads, but it is $100 cheaper, if you want to compare the two in more detail, I suggest you visit ark.intel.com, it gives the specifications of all Intel processors there.

FSX can not, will not, utilize HT. Identical systems except for one with HT won't show any difference with only FSX running.
If you use other highly threaded applications at the same time though, it could make a visible difference.
Bottom line: FSX is a 32bit, single core, single thread, app, patched{SP1 and SP2(or Acceleration)} to use more than 1 core...Don
