Thread: Incorrect Altitude from ATC

  1. Default Incorrect Altitude from ATC

Can someone assist me.I'm using Flight Sim FSX and when flying ATC tell me I'm at say 16000 when I'm showing say 4000 on my altimeter. Is this a glitch in the programme and should i do a re-install. Thanks in advance for any help.

Do you have your altimeter set? You do this by pressing B. Or maybe you have the sim set to metric altimeter? That makes sense, because 4000 meters is somehow close to 16000 ft.

My first guess would be that ATC is maybe wanting you to climb from 4,000 to 16,000 and to proceed on course. Does this happen every flight and with different aircraft and/or different destinations? I'm hoping this will help others who might jump in with more info for you. And I agree with the altimeter being set to metric! And then after doing the math, 4000 meters = only 13,125 feet, so I only 1/2 agree!

I'll check to see if ive set the altimeter in meters. It does happen in any aircraft I choose to fly. I've set the altimeter by pressing B so its not that. Atc are informing me of the hight im at via radar contact and then if i dont correct they keep telling me to descend or climb . Will check what ive set altimeter at first - might be me - lol Thanks for all advice guys.
