Question SKCL - Cali (Colombia) Alfonso Bonilla Aragon International Airport

Hello to each and every Flightsimmer on Flightsim.com!

    Just a small question:

Can anyone recommend me a good FREEWARE Scenery from "SKCL - Cali (Colombia) Alfonso Bonilla Aragon International Airport" for FS2004?

i haven't found one yet, besides a small FSX Updated AFCAD HERE

When i searched at Flightsim on 'Cali', this came up:

    ==========================

I saw the screenshots and to me, it looks really nice. As you all see, it's dated 01-21-2005, so my question is: Where can i find this one?

Thanks to every single simmer who can help me out.

    Co-Pilot Diego

(P.S. VirtualCol is not really an option. I have the PAYWARE, but before i got that one, i had allready all the airport that VirtualCol offers. Any idea how to extract (which files are needed) Cali Intl Airport from VirtualCol?)

Diego, you say you have already purchased Colombia Virtual (2005, 2007 or 2011?). If I were you, I'd keep the full package installed (but not where the default Virtualcol installer places the files); there is nothing to lose (well, some hard drive space). Why would you want to extract the airport?

    Hola Luis Miguel,

Well, the problem is, when i mix up Virtualcol Package airports (which includes Cali) with my allready installed colombian airports, they will showup double in my FS2004, no? I thought, extracting from the virtualcol package the 'Cali'-files, and then make a Scenery + Texture file and add that via Addon Scenery to the File library, should to it, right?

I just am afraid of having double airports showing up...
Can you maybe help me with this, i mean, how can i combine my existing (big collection of) Colombian Airports with Virtualcol, which adds airports that i allready have? (I'm plus only in search of Cali, that's why i thought 'extract'...)

I did this once before, with an airport from AirHispania, namely LESO. (Donostia-San Sebastian in Bask Country, Spain.) Since the approach is quite difficult (oversea, no ILS, mountains around it) i extracted all the LESO-files, and added it manually via Addon Scenery to the library.
But with Virtualcol no SKCL files are shown, besides the AFCAD-file.

Sorry for making a short story so long, but i am almost 3 months now in search of a good Cali representation, since the standard FS2004 representation is zero... I'd like to try that approach, but first i always assure
myself to have the airport correctly installed.

    Muchas gracias, Thank you!

Now I understand, Diego. Which are your other Colombian airports? Eldorado and Palonegro? If the developers are Colombian, they are usually aware of the Virtualcol sceneries, and thus, they include some instructions for removing the Virtualcol scenery. That's easier than extracting Cali files directly, and also safer (i.e., less surprises).

In the case of Eldorado, I remember something about removing the c072 files and (of course) the AFCAD, but I'm not sure. I'm currently at work, maybe later I can check for this.

    Best regards from Colombia,
    Luis Miguel

EDIT: Diego, I searched again, the only things I found were these two; one of them is a post I made in another forum:
    http://www.pilotosvirtuales.net/pvir...id_topico=6957
    http://www.pilotosvirtuales.net/pvir...&id_topico=251

As I said before, removing all the BGLs that start with c072 and cvxc072 will do the trick for Bogotá, c064 and cvxc064 for Bucaramanga, and c073 for Barrancabermeja. Hope this helps.

Hola Luis Miguel, (and to the rest of The Flightsim Forum members)

Which are te files for Cali, as you said c072 and cvxc072 where for Bogota, etc? I have the biggest commercial airports from Colombia (some from LatinVFR) and some others are Freeware smaller Colombian airfields, but amazing Quality.

Could i ask your expertise once again, to search/fish for me, and direct me to te VirtualCol files for SKCL, Aeropuerto de Cali?

Thanks a Lot! I know it's Mission Impossible, but i am really in search of Cali airport because of its famous and difficult approach.

    Un saludo,

    Co-Pilot Diego

Mmm.... it would be necessary to find some suspect BGLs, decompile them, read the resulting textfile and comparing the coordinates with the ones of the Alfonso Bonilla Aragón airport. And if you'd like to extract the airport, you'll need to know which textures are called by the Cali BGLs... or take the easy route: copy only the required BGLs and all the textures.

I give up on this, sorry. Been fighting all morning through the files from VirtualCol Xtreme, and cant make up which ones are from Cali, pure frustration.

Never mind, it was just a question, but no problem, i'll live without Cali then...
