feels like a question for my buddy Tailboom...

but I can help you a little as well of course..

first, helicopter downloads differs a bit from fixed wings planes downloads, because basically (or all?) all d/l helicopters originate from the default bell 206, they just look different!!

    - and have certain unique dynamics of course

but it's not so often the very large difference as for example a cessna compared to a 737...all the choppers are more like brothers and sisters to each other....

    nuff 'said 'bout that

I'm myself very pleased with the default 206, great fps, great VC and so on.

look out for the hughes 500 though, it's a great model.

and of course the newest addition, the :-jumpyDauphin:-jumpy, but it takes a Nobel prize to install it...

you also have a great bell 47 made in france as a matter of fact, great moving parts.

there's a gmax bell 222 recently released, check it out!

now, that's all for me so far..!

I seem to have come up against a brick wall when it comes to setting up the joystick config in the new Dauphin.. - It's an amazing chopper and lots of thanks to the author, but it a pain in the butt when I can't use the throttle control on my Sidewinder 2... (At the moment I have to hold down the F4 key to go up, and soon as I let it go I drop like a stone.)

    Try http://www.hut.fi/~apankkon/fsim/help.html

Also note that the correct procedure must be used to start the engines. Otherwise the thing simply refuses to fly...

Thank you, yes, I downloaded the new gauge file, then used a config that some kind soul posted over on avsim and now I got a bird that flies :-) :-) (Took till now to figure it all out, plus your 2 messages, but I finally got there :-))
I couldn't figure out why when I increased the throttle after I started the engines the chopper just sat there, but then I realised that you must have programmed a wind-up time, cause after waiting for a couple of minutes when I tried the throttle again it worked and I took off :-)
Thanks again for your help :-)

    Regards - John...

Thats a bit like asking how long is a piece of string!

Maybe check out this site with over 40 pages of helicopters for you to choose from http://www.simviation.com

If you are looking for a machine to train on, the I suggest look for the 'Robinson R22' .... The FS98 version or FS2000 version will fly just fine in FS2002

Here is another link that may help you:

    http://www.helicoptersonly.com/html/maneuvers.html

There is also an excellent forum (ROTORHEADS) at avsim.com with a good bunch of helo enthusiasts!

    happy Flying
