Default Beware of a phishing operation going on at the moment in the Uk

Just a warning to my fellow flight simmers in particularly those in the UK, no replies required for reference only. Beware of a phishing operation going on at the moment. I had an interesting call from a gentleman on Saturday morning purporting to be from Microsoft, warning me that my computer was under attack from hackers, and he was going to give me instructions on how to protect myself from this attack. Now as soon as I began to question him as to how he could prove his identity he became very defensive and evasive and hung up. The reason I became suspicious in the first instance was largely how would Microsoft be aware of any such attack on my computer as any reporting to Microsoft is blocked by my firewall, also background noise on the telephone it sounded like a call centre in the middle of somewhere like Lahore with traffic going by the window general street noise etc. So be warned give no information to these people.

I know it says no reply's required but Microsoft staff will NEVER phone you about a problem.

This scam has been around for a long time. I got so fed up with repeated calls I started blowing an extremely shrill whistle into the phone. It only took a few of these before the calls stopped.

I ask such callers to "hold on a second", set the phone down, return to what I was doing, and see how long before they hang up.

I've had dozens of these. I've even tried playing along with them to see what they do, but got fed up after 10 or 15 minutes of their drivel.
