Thread: Altering aircraft.cfg for extra fuel tank capacity

  1. Default Altering aircraft.cfg for extra fuel tank capacity

    Hi,

I am currently flying a round-the-world tour using a B1900D. I have a long over-water leg coming up and there is no way I can make it using the existing fuel capacity. So I would like to simulate the installation of a ferry fuel tank by temporarily increasing the aircraft's fuel capacity to enable me to fly the leg. Does anyone know how I can do this? I have calculated estimated fuel consumption for all my legs so far and would like to avoid using the "unlimited fuel" option if at all possible.

    Thanks

A couple ways you could do this. According to the Premier Acft Design B1900D, there is a Left/Right Main and Aux. tanks.
1.) Easiest way is to increase the capacity of the Aux tanks in your aircraft.cfg file.
2.) Add a Center tank at approximately the middle of the passenger space (I assume you are NOT carrying passengers). Find an aircraft with a Center Tank installation for the correct verbage to place in your aircraft.cfg file.
3.) As an extreme, you could add Tip tanks at the end of the wings. Again, find an aircraft (such as a T-33) that uses Tip tanks to get the correct verbage for your aircraft.cfg file.

Thanks for your help! I see that the name of the center tank has to match the name that FS recognises ie "Center1" and I have managed to add another 600kgs of fuel to my range! Hopefully I'll be able to make it with that or I'll have to leave my bags at home.
