Thread: Performance of FSX and PMDG

  1. Default Performance of FSX and PMDG

    Hi,

i´d like to change from FS9 to FSX. My computer:
Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit, Intel Core 2 Quad (4x2,5Ghz), 8GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce GT220 (1024mb).

Would you recommend me to change to the FSX with this system? I don´t want to fly with max settings and about 18FPS are enough for me! AddOn scenery is a "Must-have" for me!

Now I need an aircraft. I realy like the PMDG 737Ngx. But I heard that it needs many ressources. Do you think that my system will reach for this aircraft or do you have any experiences with similar computer hardware?

    Thanks for help
    Alex

I am jealous!!! I have a Core i5 2.30 Ghz, 4 gb of ram, Intel HD graphics 3000, and Windows 7 64 bit and my computer runs fine with fairly high settings, lots of scenery addons, weather addons, lots of World of AI packages, planes, etc. I think you should be fine running the addons. I am wanting to upgrade my memory to 8 gb. but it is not in the budget I personally do not own the PMDG 737Ngx, but you will probably be able to run it just fine as your computer specs are so high.
    Hope this helps!

Wait a minute, did you say you have two(2) 5ghz procesors? That means you must have a server motherboard!
AMD Phenom II Black Edition 960T @ 3.0 GHz, AMD XFX Radeon HD 6700 Series, Asus M4A87T, 8 GB Ram, Hitachi 500 GB 32mb cache 7200 RPM , Windows 7 64 bit, Coolmax 600w power supply

    Alex,

    1. You don't do any math with multi-core computers. You have a 4 core processor running each core at 2.5 GHz.

    2. Your system right now is only good enough for a stock FSX and medium sliders and no add ons. FS 2004 would run great.

    3. You need a new CPU and over-clock it to near 4.0. Then add the scenery and planes.
    Thanks,

    Jim

okay thanks......I still use the FS9 ans it runs very well. But do you think that my computer will reach for the iFly? At the moment I fly with the PMDG 737NG and it´s quite old....

And I did some tests with the FSX. I took some settings, being okay for me, and I reached with the normal 737 on an airport with Addon scenery about 25-30FPS and over the city 30-40FPS.
Do you realy think that there is no way to the FSX and PMDG?

If you want low settings then you could. There is no harm in trying seeing you already own and use FSX. Just purchase the plane and see what you get. Different people have different expectations when using FSX.
    Thanks,

    Jim

Thank you...for me the most important things are the feeling on the airport and the cockpit...so as you recommend me, I will try it and I just saw a very good Ebay offer

I have the same system as u. And fsx is fantastic on my system. but i must tell u i tweaked it with http://www.venetubo.com/fsx.html And that made all the difference. Fsx flies with his tweaks and I'd never use any other flight simulator ....
