I'm on Windows 2000 and i have Comdlg32.ocx 6.00.8169. If you want same version, get it at ftp://ftp.cai.com/pub/etrust/SSO/SSO...l/comdlg32.ocx. Copy and paste this in your browser, the link does not run ok.

Installation of a newer version of comdlg32.ocx, under my personal criteria, not sure if this is a usual procedure. I've do it in test machines at job without problem. But at your risk. I advice you check Microsoft KB before do nothing, searching for something like "comdlg32.ocx update" or "comdlg32.ocx replac*".

[li]To be cautious, close all possible thing to close, including services if it is Win 2K or XP. Don't open any Open/Save/Save As/Print dialog!.
[li]Locate your comdlg32.ocx file in the system (usually in \Windows\System or \Windows\System32), and take note of the full file path.
    [li]In Start|Run, type [big][pre]regsvr32 /u your_comdlg32.ocx_file_with_complete_path[/pre][/big]
[li]Copy yuor older file as a backup and replace it by the newer.
    [li]In Start|Run, type [big][pre]regsvr32 your_comdlg32.ocx_newfile_with_complete_path[/pre][/big]
    [li]Restart
    [li]Good luck :-)

Simply press your Start button, select Run..., and type this:
    [big][pre]regsvr32 /u your_current_comdlg32.ocx_file_with_complete_path[/pre][/big]
A dialog box will inform you about the result of the operation.
Then, replace the older by the newer. And, again, press your Start button, select Run..., and type this:
    [big][pre]regsvr32 your_current_comdlg32.ocx_file_with_complete_path[/pre][/big]
Only this. Regsvr32.exe is a standard Windows tool used to register/unregister ActiveX components, and it is located by windows without need of path specification, it resides in a system folder always included in the PATH environment variable.

    Default somethin like this..

    If I may jump in...

start a Command Prompt, think you find it under Start menu - programs - accessories - command prompt

otherwise Start menu - Run command (the first choice above log off/shutdown), type command and hit enter
now type this: enter after each line

    c:
    cd \windows\system
    regsvr32 /u comdlg32.ocx
    regsvr32 comdlg32.ocx

    and that's it!

don't think there would be any deviations from these instructions..!

    [font size="1" color="#FF0000"]LAST EDITED ON Aug-02-02 AT 06:45PM (EDT)[/font][p]Sorry:

    First, type:

    [big][pre]regsvr32 /u C:\Windows\System\comdlg32.ocx[/pre][/big]

    Second step:

    [big][pre]regsvr32 C:\Windows\System\comdlg32.ocx[/pre][/big]

    Note, it's backslash, "\", not "/".

    9SE, sure. 2000 is better... :-) IMHO
