Avsim library still offline.

I was so looking forward to seeing the improvements to the file library only to find out that it was a big fat toad sitting on the server and was not going to play nice. I have always look forward to using both Flightsim and avism for my freeware stuff and paints for my payware. I do hope to see the library back on line soon. Maybe I should offer my expertise in sever load management to MR Allen.

I just got into the Avsim site alright at- http://forum.avsim.net/ but this message was there-

"We did not know and could not predict what the performance level of the new library would be until we brought it entirely on line. Now we know. It is unacceptably effecting the performance of the entire system, placing an extremely high and unbalanced load on one of our servers. We cannot allow that to exist, so we will be reverting back to the legacy library within the hour"

Yes I have seen the message for most of the day and still nothing. I guess it will be a few days to get every thing back onto the old sever. In the mean time I will try to find some new stuff here on flightsim.

Instead of clicking on 'File Library' i just tried running my cursor over it and clicked 'Library Main Page' and a login box came up but i've forgotten my screename and password so i can't try it..

The new system put such a huge load on the servers that it slowed down everything. The Library, the Forum, the Front Page.

The old library system is back on-line and is working just fine. It is no longer impacting other parts of Avsim.

Remember, when Flightsim.com went to their new format, things also ran slowly.
Maybe after the legacy library comes back, they'll be able to work on some tweaks to their new system and re-launch it.
99% of my time is spent here at Flightsim.com, but occasionally I'll go to AVSIM to download something that's, for whatever reason, not available here.
