Yes sir, your point is well taken.

I was thinking of things like the Martin Marauder, Kelly Johnson and the skunk works, the F104 Starfighter, the U2, the SR 71. Things like that. These guys are (or were at least)among the gods of aviation history. In that light I re-pose my original question

Okay, I still lurk in the back ground, though not physically flying the sim. I have one question here about Prepare3D. Do they confirm that you are one of those types of users when you buy it? Just curious about that.

Glad to see you're still hanging around, whatever happens to me...

Does Microsoft confirm that you are using FS for entertainment purposes only?

You agree to to license terms and it is not up to the company to confirm anything.
    Thanks,

LM has grown far beyond building aircraft. These days they are also big into computer and software systems, including simulators and training.

I'm still not sure why you would be scared to admit you bought a licence.

Sorry Jim, couldn't help myself. I'd hate to see you have to lock your own thread because of me.

But, John, and I've said this before; I think that if a person does not go around waving a flag at them shoving it in their face whether they are a qualifier or not. They are probably not going to conducting detailed house to house inspections.

Probably just about every serious simulation aviation enthusiast on this forum could develop a rationale to become qualified. Private pilot, serious student of aviation. I think variations on the same point have been alluded to by far more senior guys than myself.

I guess all the major corporations are doing stuff like that. The world is moving on and I'm feeling older. It's getting tougher to remain a kid at heart.

As to your second question; you must not take me too seriously, I am an incurable smartass.

Ultimately, IMHO, the main thing to consider is whether or not P3D is or will be a good flight sim. If a forum is provided, that should be that main aim, not the discussion of the pros and cons of the EULA. I participate in several P3D forums and that is the one subject that is taboo! Too many armchair lawyers to come to any conclusion.
So far, as a flightsim, I have been pleasantly surprised.

I qualify to buy it, however too busy to consider it. and I have six FSX Gold's that are just fine, and only one installed, five to go. If P3D became really advanced I would be very interested. FSX and FS9 are godsends they are so good, and when you study real world flight training you appreciate how good it is. For example, if I recall I was flying to Carlsbad in FS9 on an IFR flight plan. ATC vectored me between two Class B airspace areas after descending and flying toward the airport. That was amazing and reassuring because in RW flying sometimes that is what you have to do is weave yourself through all the controlled airspace. There are a lot of things that are lacking from FSX and FS9, but amazingly many of these things are corrected by 3rd party developers. I'm looking forward to Active Sky, and wondering if it issues METAR reports also. Any way, if P3D becomes a huge improvement over FSX then I would be interested, and I'm not meaning (necessarily) improving the software itself to run better on computers, but the features that would make it more realistic compared to real world flying. I have tried out a 747 from FS9 that was actually built/designed for RW training of one airline's pilots for certain procedures. It was nice, like the way POSKY's fly better, and regarding authentic procedures, it doesn't come close to the entertaining aircraft from PMDG.

But as I said if P3D became hugely improved toward RW conditions and procedures I would be interested. As the rock group Blonde Redhead has said in the past, "Fake Can be Just as Good", FSX and FS9 are great.

It was a simple yes-no poll and now we are going to digress into some deep discussion that will touch upon licenses, legalities, the state of hardware, the history of operating systems, how many copies of software have been purchased, the history of FS, and the future of flight sims.

Vic, this is why we don't have a P3D forum here, on top of the fact that 9 people own the sim.
    Thanks,

    Jim
