Thread: CH Analog Throttle And Windows XP

  1. Question CH Analog Throttle And Windows XP

I just got this analog CH throttle control and XP doesn't see the buttons ... only the throttle action. I have the analog CH F-16 Flight Stick hooked up to it connected to a gameport. How do I get windows and FS to see all the buttons on the throttle? Thanks for reading my post

    Does Windows recognize it properly?

You may have to use the CH software to fully use all its features.
    Thanks,

    Jim

Windows recognizes it, but it doesn't have all it's features. I'll check ch products site and see if there is any software.

  4. Thumbs down Found some software ... but ...

This is the only place I could find a analog driver or software ... it list everything except the throttle control ... I installed it and looked in the game controller ... everything was listed except the throttle.

Why on earth wouldn't CH make a way for the OS to see all the button?

    ...connected to a gameport.
A "Gameport", by design, is Analog only. No Digital functions...Don

I don't understand Don ... the throttle was made for a gameport why doesn't all the buttons function? It is a analog device correct? Shouldn't all the buttons work or is it the OS that prevents it? The flight sticks I have are analog and all the buttons function. That's weird isn't it?

I stand corrected! Actually in a newer game port controller DB-15 connection, there are four "button" signals available.
From what I have read, they're only recognizable with controller specific drivers, or if the OS's generic drivers are directly compatible.
Unfortunately I have yet to find a DB-15 to USB adapter that directly buffers the 4 pins that are related to those switches.
I think the issue is the way the bi-directional communication works in USB vs a com port/game port.
The adapter(stated: no digital) I have wouldn't work with my old CH Joystick's buttons either, but, works flawlessly with my Pedals.
The buttons were not available in any of my calibration menus, so, for $10 more than the price of an adapter, I bought a new HOTAS...Don

Thanks for posting again Don ... what is a HOTAS? I really only wanted the POV to function on the throttle ... don't need anything else.
