Thread: Runway assignments in RPLL

  1. Default Runway assignments in RPLL

    Hello,
i got Lowil Fred Espada's RPLL v8 ultima scenery but it appears that it is using runway 13 for props instead of runway 13. Any files required? I've tried other afcad files but it didn't work.

I downloaded the version v5 and 5.1 update from here, the latest I did on a quick search. He uses the star crosswind method to make all runways act as parallels so they are active. You have 6/24 at 12,261 feet long and 13/31 at 8034. I used his optional afcad file NAIA.

    13/31 has a width of 147. 6/24 is about 200.

In his standard rpll afcad he has a concrete 6/24 at 12,261 x 131 and 13/31 is grass at 6722x114.

ai prioritize runways by winds, size, navaids and surface according to the ai type. He has 13/31 closed for landing but also tried to make it one way for take-off which will not work in FS9.

larger heavier ai may not find 13/31 suitable because of surface and length. props can use all.

I hope one of these statements answers your question which is a bit not clear to me.

i got 8.1. Thanks for the pointer.

ID, Heading, Length Feet, Width Feet, Surface, XWind, Comments
    06/24,060.2,12260.5,131.2,Asphalt,False,

    13C/31C,134.9,5249.3,275.6,Grass,False,
    13/31,134.9,6886.5,131.2,Asphalt,False,

is the runway properties. I left out the xwinds.

On both the 13/31s he tried for one ways which will not work. The overlay and underlay privileges are different. He used an overlay technique where 13/31 is on top of 13c/31c. 13c/31c has no starting points so ai I believe will not land on it. 13/31 has a center starting point and one on the 13 end, none on the 31 end. For ai that may offer one way operations. User aircraft for certain functions may need starting points however since take-offs begin usually in the blast-pad area allowed to get extra rolling take-off length a start location would not be there. For landing it is correctly at the threshold.

6/24 the center taxi path is closed so ai should ignore that runway if I am correct. Start locations are in the numbered AF2 overlays.

The numbered AF2s appear to be overlays for more helipads and some VORs and starting points for 6 and 24. On opening each one the name property shows its purpose.

    ILS's are stock.

This is complex enough where only the author and someone more advanced than myself knows what's going on. Apparently he was trying to work around afcad limitations.

I'm not sure about the ADE bgls. They talk about axis objects but nothing lists.
