Thread: AI Visible Traffic

    Question AI Visible Traffic

Back a couple of computer crashes ago I had a program on my FS2004 where I could SEE the individual AI traffic when they were flying within 64 miles of my position... It was very similar to the way FSX displays AI traffic in it's proximity. It was suggested to me back then by "Opa" Marshall (God rest his soul) and it was one of the most usable programs I had. Most times, (because I like heavy traffic for realism) while awaiting departure at the runway, in line to go, the tower just keeps landing traffic without let up (even with another runway available).. I could bring this program up and DELETE some of the inbound traffic on, or approaching final in order to allow the departing traffic to go.

My memory is not what it used to be and I've searched here, but can't seem to recall the name of the program..

    Anybody help me out?

The Traffic Tool Box SDK - TrafficToolbox.dll - gives you a list of AI traffic active in FS. You can delete individual entries.

Try spacing out incoming ai with aismooth v1.2 in the FSX utilities as it works in FS9 as well. You set up the spacing you want and you have the option of protecting your aircraft as well when inbound on final. This allows interleaving arrivals and departures especially the take-off queue that builds with the arrival of air clusters and the ai-rush to catch up with departure schedules when a flight is loaded into FS.

Kickerpicker maybe you mean "airadr30.zip" its a TCAS Gauge and does just that, I had one too and as you mentioned it I noticed that I did not have it anymore. Don't know if "airadr30" was it but it comes from about the right date 2006 and seems to do what whatever the other one was. Might even try it again myself.

Hope that helps you in your search.

Thanks for the info, guys.. I downloaded the Traffic Tools and installed it.. That was the one I was referring to!! BUT the other one, aismooth is a great program too. After I installed these two programs, I set up a short flight from Detroit to Toronto and the departing traffic was heavy. There was no problem getting up to take off after awaiting my turn.. The inbound traffic was using rwy 4L and the departing traffic was using 3L.. That is the way it should be done, but, more importantly, the separation between incoming flights was correct.. There was no unrealistic showing up of 3 or 4 airplanes in a group to land. Both of these programs make everything right, plus you have the added advantage with Traffic Tools to 'see' other AI aircraft, and can even view your own airplane from the spot position of another airplane nearby. Great programs, and thanks again... Roy
